Ground Truth Free Evaluation of Segment Based Maps

چکیده

For ground truth free map evaluation, map intrinsic properties have to be utilized in order to define a measure of quality. This paper suggests the property of map consistency, based on the similarity of different model elements describing a single feature in the environment. The evaluation algorithm is tailored for segment based maps. Respecting the segment representation, it inherits the properties of memoryand runtime efficiency. In comparison to classic grid based evaluation models, which are mostly used for evaluation of maps represented by points, it is also able to detect structural inconsistencies of maps, even if the model elements (the segments) overlap. The paper explains the core technique, hierarchical clustering of segments, illustrates properties of the underlying segment similarity measures and cluster confidence measure. Experiments on different segment based maps show its consistency with visual inspection.

Performance evaluation of EPM and MPSIAC Models for determination of Erosion Status of Shahriari Watershed

Soil erosion is one of the most important environmental issues in developing countries, including Iran that there is inaccurate information about its amount and distribution. For this purpose, the accuracy and distribution of erosion classes obtained from EPM and MPSIAC models as compared to BLM as ground truth values were evaluated in Shahriari watershed. First, the required data and informati...

A method to segment maps from different modalities using free space layout - MAORIS : MAp Of RIpples Segmentation

How to divide floor plans or navigation maps into a semantic representation, such as rooms and corridors, is an important research question in fields such as human-robot interaction, place categorization, or semantic mapping. While most algorithms focus on segmenting robot built maps, those are not the only types of map a robot, or its user, can use. We have developed a method for segmenting ma...

Tryggo: Old Norse for Truth Ground truth mapping has its origins in the computer science pattern recognition and machine vision fields and is a major activity associated with remote sensing (i.e. satellite images). Additionally, ground truth maps not infrequently find use in the following plurality of settings: motion video road detection and tracking, motion tasks, geoscience applications, sen...

A Measure for Accuracy Disparity Maps Evaluation

The quantitative evaluation of disparity maps is based on error measures. Among the existing measures, the percentage of Bad Matched Pixels (BMP) is widely adopted. Nevertheless, the BMP does not consider the magnitude of the errors and the inherent error of stereo systems, in regard to the inverse relation between depth and disparity. Consequently, different disparity maps, with quite similar ...

Ground Truth Evaluation of Stereo Algorithms for Real World Applications

Current stereo algorithms are capable to calculate accurate (as defined, e.g., by needs in vision-based driver assistance) dense disparity maps in real time. They have become the source of three-dimensional data for several indoor and outdoor applications. However, ground truthbased evaluation of such algorithms has been typically limited to data sets generated indoors in laboratories. In this ...
